Week 3 already! Where is the time going (faceplant!)

So far we’ve had a kick off, 2 workshops and a great session with Deepr all about human connections in a digital world. Both Chloe and I loved this session and highly recommend it, check out our blog about it.

It’s been great meeting everyone in our group, there are some great projects and we’ll be sorry not to see them as much as we move away from group work to individual work. It’s been great to chat through ideas and share thoughts with each other and I for one will miss it.

In our group, we have Back Up (a spinal injury charity) and MEWSo (Middle Eastern Women and Society Organisation) and we spent the session sharing our skateboards of virtual events, translation requirements and Facebook features. We worked though these and what our priorities are for the next 7 weeks. In a nutshell these centre around:

  • Developing new Facebook features
  • Creating more community engagement (virtual meetups/posts)
  • Messaging, making this more cohesive across all our platforms, and more succinct
  • Upskill staff

It was interesting to see each other’s ideas and thoughts, our projects are all different but there are so ways they cross over, you can guarantee one of us has a way of helping or suggesting something that will help the other. It reminds me of that saying ‘it takes a village to raise a baby’, well our babies are digital but they still need a village!

So far, for us there has been great value in learning about each other’s projects and taking ideas from those to see how they could be adapted to work for ours.

This session has really helped us identify what is our priority, and it’s exciting to be moving forward with a clearer plan.

We’re looking forward to the one-to-one focused sessions but we will miss our group sessions — see you all soon!
