We loved this workshop. Deepr has some fantastic resources and ideas for engaging with our community online and there was a lively frank and productive discussion regarding the ways the attendees are engaging with their communities, what works well and what falls flat along with some great resource cards for future use.

We started with ‘Hot Mugs’ which was an opportunity for the group to come together and pause for a minute at the start of the session, to spend time together with a warm drink — which has been proven to engender feelings of calm, support and warmth towards the other participants in the group. I think it worked!

We discussed the benefits and drawbacks of several ideas and found that Catherine and I had totally opposing views regarding a similar exercise to ‘Hot Mugs,’ using candles to sit for a few moments with each other, watching the light. I think it’s a lovely idea to use light, but Catherine had reservations about the connotations of candles and death and funerals for our families, who live with the reality of their children having shorter lives than expected. What do you think?

The session was really helpful and a great starting point for really getting us thinking about different ways to connect with our families online. Thanks Deepr!
